IxDA is an international organization dedicated to the professional practice of Interaction Design with more than 20,000 members and over 80 local chapters around the world. In Europe, we see a fast growing number of members joining our global IxDA community as new local chapters spawn all across the region. On this page we’d like to introduce you to IxDA in Europe and hope to ignite and inspire your passion for Interaction Design.
Interaction Design (IxD) defines the structure and behavior of interactive systems. Interaction Designers strive to create meaningful relationships between people and products and services that they use, from computers to mobile devices and beyond. Our practices are evolving with the world.
IxDA is a global network dedicated to the professional practice of Interaction Design – founded in 2003 and incorporated as a not-for-profit in late 2005. IxDA is a novel kind of “un-organization” in that there is no cost for membership. IxDA relies on its passionate members to help serve the needs of the international Interaction Design community. With more than 20,000 members and over 80 local chapters around the world, the IxDA network actively focuses on Interaction Design issues for the practitioner, no matter their level of experience.

We believe that the human condition is increasingly challenged by poor experiences. IxDA intends to improve the human condition by advancing the discipline of Interaction Design. To do this, we foster a community of people that come together to support this intention. IxDA relies on individual initiative, sharing and self-organization as the primary means for us to achieve our goals.
Throughout Europe, the dialogue on Interaction Design in academia and business is pursued from many different angles, nurtured by the region’s great diversity of national identities and socio-economic conditions. To allow IxDA to effectively utilize those kinds of regional premises, the global organization has assigned Coordinators for the worlds main geographical areas. In Europe, the Regional Coordination promotes to embrace the areas diversity and encourages cross-national collaboration amongst its chapters to facilitate a broad and manifold dialogue on Interaction Design.
